Ten Celebrities Finally Speaking out about their Emotional Support Dogs (In order from least to most surprising)
This year has been one of the most exciting for the world of Emotional Support Dogs and Celebrities! Finally, big names are speaking out about the benefit their animals have had on their lives and claiming their Emotional Support Animals on the United State Registries. Even with the glamorous world of fame and fortune, celebrities find themselves in dark places emotionally. These celebrities with Emotional Support Dogs have opened up to us for the first time, letting us in on how their animals have changed their lives completely!
With the growing restrictions at airports with tighter security, it has become imperative, even for celebrities to have proof that their animals are Emotional Support Dogs to travel. Previously celebrities were often overlooked in regards to the rules but after 2001 even celebrities have had to follow the rules. With these heightened travel times, celebrities have finally spoken out about their access to having their Emotional Support Animals fly with them, in the cabin of the plane.
You might have heard about most of these celebrities love for animals, but having their pets registered as Emotional Support Animals is finally becoming a conversation with the public!
No surprise here, Selena owns SIX dogs! Their names are Willie, Wallace, Fina, Chip, Chazz, and Baylor. Selena is a huge animal fan and has finally broken her silence on the benefits of all 6 of her dogs being an Emotional Support to her and her family.
Another animal lover, Miley has been enthralled with dogs, cats, and other exotic animals since a very young age. As a child her parents encouraged her artistic abilities as well as a love of animals, growing up on the farm. She has dogs named Milky, Happy, MaryJane the Pit, Emu or MuMu, Bean, Lilo, Floyd the Husky (Pictured above), Lila, Penny Lane, Moonie the puppy, Ziggy, Pablow (RIP) and two cats; Keke and Shanti and a pig named well “Pig”. While she’s always been openly pro-animal, this year Miley started to discuss the benefits of having all of her animals be certified Emotional Support Animals. From her dogs and cats to her pig, she’s a huge advocate for the Emotional Support Animal cause and advocates for the major role that animals play in the often debilitating emotional disabilities people have.
Britney is another celebrity that is well known for her love of animals, but just recently started a conversation about the Emotional Support that her animals play in her life. While she only has 5 dogs: Bit Bit, Hannah, London, Lacy Loo, and Lucky. She is well known for her spending on her dog’s hairdo’s, clothes, pictures, and accessories and now she’s finally spoken out about how each has become a registered Emotional Support Animal in order to remove stereotyping that patient’s with emotional disturbances receive in public. Spears was known for her mental breakdown in 2007 and states that the benefits of her 5 Emotional Support Dogs have gotten her through the roughest times.
Amongst her huge entourage is a plethora of animals in her zoo, Kim Kardashian is a well-known animal lover. Her animal totals count for more than most other celebrities we’ve listed, but she has finally spoken out about the Emotional Support they bring her. Initially, her love of animals was for the exotic and personality of her pets, but after her attack in Paris last October she has finally come out about the love and support from her animals. She has stated repeatedly that while her family and friends understood the pain she was going through, nothing could replace the love from her dogs and cats that understood her on a level no one else did. She’s finally in her recovery stages of the attack, but she says she couldn’t have been fully recovered without Mercy.
Natalie has a special kind of love for her dog Whiz. He’s been there through thick and thin and she often speaks about him while she’s out in public. Having him certified as an Emotional Support Dog often takes the headache out of having to explain her conditions while traveling and she’s one of the newest celebrities to speak out about her new access for Whiz while traveling!
His love for his dog Samson was unimaginable, he was scheduled to be euthanized just weeks out and Bradley Cooper adopted him. Bradley gave Samson a comfortable, loving home, for 13 years up until 2010 when Samson, unfortunately, passed away. Bradley has been a huge supporter of Emotional Support Animals since and has advocated on their owner’s behalf as well. Cooper is also an advocate of adopting rescue dogs and has recently adopted Charlotte a gorgeous Chow/Retriever mix that now lives with him and travels with him everywhere. Charlotte being the Emotional Support Dog to Cooper is what gives him the ability to have such a great home life in the midst of the chaos of celebrity life.
Sandra is well known for her love of animals and her three adopted dogs with disabilities. All Chihuahuas the first is Poppy who is three legged, the second Ruby with two legs, and the third is Bebe with one eye. Sandra’s ability to give love to the least fortunate is what motivates her to be an advocate for owners of Emotional Support Animals. Being that these three little pups give her so much Emotional Support, has also been a huge part of her celebrity success.
Named after his homes state, Georgia has been an Emotional Support Dog to Ryan Seacrest since 2014 when he first adopted her. She’s a gorgeous black lab and has grown to be an amazing support to the hectic lifestyle of a celebrity. Without Georgia with Seacrest all of the time, the underlying conditions he suffers from would worsen. After being recommended an Emotional Support animal 3 years ago from his mental health professional team, Georgia was brought home with Seacrest and they’ve become best friends!
The public will never forget when Ryan Gosling took his companion of 16 years George to the hospital in December of 2016. This moment stuck in the public’s eye but George is just as sociable to the public eye as Gosling. He has been on many talk shows and travels with Ryan wherever he goes. Ryan has spoken out time and again about how bringing his Emotional Support Animal paperwork with him and George while traveling is what keeps them together in situations that can sometimes be the most stressful. While less is known about Gosling’s condition, it is plausible that even with an Emotional Support Animal recommendation it could be mild anxiety or a variety of other stressor’s that comes with being a celebrity that George helps Gosling with!
Oprah’s love for her dog Sophie goes deeper than most things. While Oprah has had up to 21 dogs in her life, and at one point 11 at one time. She has been quoted many times as saying “Nothing makes me happier than being with my dogs”. Sophie was with Oprah waiting behind red carpet events, in the office at the doctors, and often would help with her anxiety and depression from being in the public eye. Sophie would also get anxiety being away from Oprah and so eventually it became clear that the appropriate paperwork must be in place for them to be inseparable while traveling. Oprah had Sophie as an Emotional Support Dog up until 2016 when, unfortunately, Sophie passed. She said that it wasn’t until she was gone that she really completely understood her love for her, now with all of her animals Oprah has them registered as Emotional Support Animals and can enjoy their presence on a daily basis while traveling.
